PICKGUARDS - PLEASE READ!! 1) New Style vs. Old Style - New Style has stairsteps facing down towards floor. Old Style has stairsteps facing up towards the ceiling. They are NOT interchangeable, the mounting screw patterns are different. This refers to guitars only, not basses. 2) NOS (New Old Stock) are unused pickguards with the protective peel-off plastic coating still intact. Residue left from the peel-off coating may be cleaned off with naptha (lighter fluid). 3) USED pickguards are good condition, but will have some surface scratches. 4) All pickguards have metal foil shielding applied to the back. 5) Nitro pickguards are made from nitrocellulose, as used in the 1960's. It is less common now due to it's high flammability. The look is real vintage, with very high depth of color and pattern. Nitro pearl will have a slight yellow tint to it. If not mounted to a guitar immediately, nitro pickguards MUST be stored under a flat heavy object to prevent warping. 6) Slight variations in alignment and fit of pickguards may exist due to manufacturing variances over the years. 7) Reverend does not provide technical assistance or services for wiring, mounting, or modding. Consult the many online resources (Google "guitar wiring"), or have a professional do the work. 8) Save your original parts and pickguard if you want to maintain the long term value of your instrument. |
