RE:
Drivetrain Upgrade
This
upgrade applies to early production (approx. the first 100)
Drivetrain pedals. The upgrade reduces the popping sound
of the on/off switch. It also reduces the midrange peak
by approx. 5% resulting in a more transparent, natural tone.
However, the midrange peak can be recalled by reducing TREBLE
and BASS and increasing DRIVE (see new sample settings at
Owners Manuals).
To
determine if your Drivetrain is current:
Locate the white arrow silkscreened on the bottom panel,
just right of the battery compartment. If there is a black
dot drawn on the tail of the arrow, the pedal is current
and will not require an upgrade.
If
there are no graphics at all on the bottom panel, then you
have one of the first 10 pre-production Drivetrains. Remove
the bottom panel. If there are two resistors (330K and 100K)
soldered to the back of the circuit board, then the unit
has been upgraded. These units can
only be upgraded at our facility.
Upgrade
Procedure
This upgrade should be performed by a qualified technician.
It is about a 10 minute job.
-
Remove knobs,
pot nuts/washers, and the switch nut/washer.
-
Remove bottom
panel.
-
Carefully
lift out circuit board. Do not lose the white nylon
spacer for the on/off switch.
-
Replace resistor
#R21 with a 56K resistor. Replace resistor #R7 with
a 91K resistor. Use 1/4 watt, 5% tolerance resistors
only.
-
Reassemble
pedal. Test pedal. Refer to the new sample settings/important
operating notes at Owners
Manuals.
-
On the back
panel, mark the tail of the white arrow with a black
dot. This signifies the pedal has been upgraded.
