Band members Robert McDonald (guitar/vocals), Alex Asch (lead guitar), and Ryan Meyers (bass) have signed with Reverend Guitars to be exclusive endorsers. Hailing from Cincinnati, the up-and-coming modern rock band mixes heavy guitars with melodic/pop elements, and blistering lead work. Signed to Standby Records, Cinema Sleep is currently touring the US in support of their latest release Make Your Way.

From the Reverend line, McDonald uses the Bayonet and Kingbolt RA, Asch favors the Kingbolt RA, and Meyers holds down the low end with the Mercalli 5 bass.

Latin Grammy nominee and legendary Yankee outfielder opened the NBA Playoff Game 2 (Knicks vs Celtics) with a solo guitar rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. Williams went with his trusty Reverend Jetstream HB for the event, opting for a clean/bluesy neck pickup tone for his tastefully understated rendition of the patriotic classic.

A classically trained guitarist, Williams plays and composes music with influences that include jazz, classical, pop, Brazilian, and Latin sounds. He’s released two records to date, 2003′s The Journey Within and 2009′s Moving Forward, and is currently working on a third release.

A veritable master of slide guitar, Rick Vito brought his particular brand of swingy-slidey blues to the Dallas International Guitar Festival on Saturday evening. Rick’s stage presence and command of the instrument charged up the mixed crowd of dancing revelers and wowed guitar players. The raucous blues set ranged from an old-school original Carry It Home to Rosie, to the ethereal Peter Green chestnut Albatross.

He played most of the set with a pair of his Reverend Rick Vito Signature guitars. Vito also broke out an old Reverend Rocco that he had modified with an aluminum fretless fretboard! With this unique guitar he proceeded to tear it up on an original East-meets-West composition, complete with micro-tonal lead work that added a pleasantly unexpected dimension to the set, and had jaded guitar players smiling wide.

Many bassists find it tough to decide between the punchy low end of a P-bass or the tighter tone of a J-bass. Reverend tackled the problem with the Decision bass, and Bass Gear magazine’s latest cover story tells you how and why. The stellar review also includes input from our own Joe Naylor on how the Decision bass measures up and the philosophybehind our entire bass line. Says reviewer Alan Loshbaugh, “[It's] the one bass you can cover any gig with,” describing how you can blend the separate “P” Split Brick and “J” Rails pickups to create a tone all your own or to go with the tried and true classic tones these pickups were based on.

This issue of Bass Gear also shows Joe Naylor with one of our favorite bassists, Meshell Ndegeocello, who is interviewed separately and
discusses her basses — including her Reverend Decision.
