Can you give us a brief history of your playing career?
Went to Berklee College of Music. Been gigging since my teens. I’ve done a lot of session work in LA and been touring with the Black Eyed Peas since 2002.

What inspired you to start playing guitar?
I started playing clarinet, saxophone, and flute in elementary and middle school. I picked up guitar to try and up my cool factor. You sometimes take a lot of shit as a flutist. It’s true. I call my woodwinds gateway instruments.

What was your first electric guitar?
I don’t remember the model, but it was this iridescent purple yamaha. It was beautiful.

What are your top 5 favorite records?

What was the proudest moment and/or performance of your playing career?
I am a soccer fanatic, so playing at the last 2 World Cups has been unbelievable.

How did you hear about Reverend?
My prior guitar tech, and great friend Mike Wilson, knew Joe and turned me on the the company.

What Reverend guitar(s) are you using?
I am presently using the Jetstream 10th Anniversary, a Ron Asheton Signature, and my favorite, a custom Chrome Volcano.

What do you like about your Reverend guitar?
They feel good, sound great, look cool and are dependable across the board.

What amps and pedals do you currently use?
I use a Mesa Boogie Three Channel Dual Rectifier. For pedals I am using a bunch of Boss pedals, a Whammy, a Snarling Dog Wah/Ring Mod.

Do you have any unusual hobbies, skills, or pastimes you’d like to share with us?
I like to pluck the gray hairs from my beard and stick them on the mirrors in hotel elevators. Oh, and I like bicycles.

Do you have any advice for up and coming players?
Learn to play multiple instruments if you can. It will open up your ears and fingers to other worlds of harmony, rhythm and phrasing.

Please tell us about any of your current projects, tours, cds, etc. we should know about:
I just played horns on Eric Clapton’s upcoming album, and on Sheryl Crow’s newest album. I am presently on the road touring with the Black Eyed Peas, writing and recording a new album. My side project with Printz Board, Airpushers, has an album coming out next year.
