Can you give a brief history of your store?
I started this store in 1980. Started with a 900 sf. building and now have three buildings with 11,500 sf.

Was there a particular person — a teacher, another store owner, a family member or friend, etc. — who inspired you to go into this business?
I started working at the Music Center in 1965. I was 15 yrs old and I needed the job because my father would only let me have a drum set if I took lessons and made the monthly payments which he arranged. I loved it there. I was able to get my high school to allow me to work co-op. That meant I went to school in the morning’s and to work in the afternoon for my Junior and Senior year. I was able to work full time and still play with a band on the weekends. In the summer I played 5 to 6 nights a week as well as work at the store. Life was great.

What instrument(s) do you play personally? Do you have a band?
I get paid to play drums. I am still playing 3 to 5 nights a week.

What makes your store different from the average “Big Box” music store?
My employees. We are all here because we want to be.

What has been your proudest moment as a musical instrument dealer so far?
Every day when I come in and look around the store and see my guys… it is the proudest day of my life

How did you hear about Reverend?
I am fortunate enough to be a Friend of Joe Naylors’. When he sold Naylor amps and was just starting to work on Reverend even before the name was decided. Joe came and worked here in the store part time as a luthier. He is one of the finest. On his break time he was designing the Reverend guitar. The rest is history.

What Reverend models do you stock regularly?

What do you like about working with Reverend Guitars?
The most honest, straight forward and caring companies I do business with. They are honestly concerned that I am profitable.

What amp brands do you sell? What pedal brands?
Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, SWR, GK, Hartke, Peavey, Randall, Marshall and Vox amps. Rocktron, Zoom, EH and Dunlop pedals.

Do you have any unusual hobbies, skills, or pastimes you’d like to share with us?
I work six days at the store and 3 to 5 nights playing. No other time left. I do have some very cool cars that I get to wash.

Do you have any advice for up and coming players?

Please tell us about any events you have coming up?
We will be co-sponsoring the Reverend Fest this summer.
